Easter activities for children in Year 1 and Year 2

Dear Parents / Carers,

Hope that you are enjoying the start of what would have been the Easter holidays. Ordinarily many of you would be jetting off to exotic locations or visiting families and friends during this break, however the current situation finds us all at home. So please can we use this time to be creative and to motivate our children in lots of different ways. Below is a list of suggested activities that your children can complete during the next two weeks.

Also, please keep checking the school twitter and web pages for more ideas and activities to do at home. If you children are still working through the learning packs then please carry on. There are many more additional activities and books on the Curriculum Visions website.

  • There are lots of birds and little creatures out this time of year. Create a diary/journal of all the birds and creatures that you can spot. Can you draw them?
  • Create your own board game, using an empty cereal box. Play it with your family and see who wins.
  • Have an Easter egg hunt in your garden.
  • Use the empty Easter egg boxes to make something interesting. Can you design you very own robot?
  • Do something kind for everybody in your family. Make your mum a card, your dad a cup of tea. (With help from an adult) and video call your relatives and tell them about something good that makes you feel happy.
  • Help out the creepy crawlies in your garden and make a bug hotel for them.
  • Create your own cinema night! Make tickets inviting your family and snacks (with supervision). Write a short speech introducing the film and include the reasons why you the audience would like enjoy it.
  • Make a den/hideout out of duvets and blankets.
  • Help your family cook a delicious meal. See if you can remember the recipe and write a short review of the meal.
  • Find some seeds in your fruit and plant them in a pot of soil and see if they grow.
  • Ask an adult to slice the top of a carrot and put it in a saucer of water on the window sill and see if it sprouts.
  • Make an assault course in your garden and time yourself completing it. Can you complete it in a faster time and create your own Personal Best.
  • Have a go at cloud spotting, can you spot an animal or shape in the sky?  Can you draw it?

I hope to see many of your exciting creations on our twitter page.

Remember to stay in and stay safe!
