Easter activities for children in Year 1 and Year 2
Dear Parents / Carers,
Hope that you are enjoying the start of what would have been the Easter holidays. Ordinarily many of you would be jetting off to exotic locations or visiting families and friends during this break, however the current situation finds us all at home. So please can we use this time to be creative and to motivate our children in lots of different ways. Below is a list of suggested activities that your children can complete during the next two weeks.
Also, please keep checking the school twitter and web pages for more ideas and activities to do at home. If you children are still working through the learning packs then please carry on. There are many more additional activities and books on the Curriculum Visions website.
- There are lots of birds and little creatures out this time of year. Create a diary/journal of all the birds and creatures that you can spot. Can you draw them?
- Create your own board game, using an empty cereal box. Play it with your family and see who wins.
- Have an Easter egg hunt in your garden.
- Use the empty Easter egg boxes to make something interesting. Can you design you very own robot?
- Do something kind for everybody in your family. Make your mum a card, your dad a cup of tea. (With help from an adult) and video call your relatives and tell them about something good that makes you feel happy.
- Help out the creepy crawlies in your garden and make a bug hotel for them.
- Create your own cinema night! Make tickets inviting your family and snacks (with supervision). Write a short speech introducing the film and include the reasons why you the audience would like enjoy it.
- Make a den/hideout out of duvets and blankets.
- Help your family cook a delicious meal. See if you can remember the recipe and write a short review of the meal.
- Find some seeds in your fruit and plant them in a pot of soil and see if they grow.
- Ask an adult to slice the top of a carrot and put it in a saucer of water on the window sill and see if it sprouts.
- Make an assault course in your garden and time yourself completing it. Can you complete it in a faster time and create your own Personal Best.
- Have a go at cloud spotting, can you spot an animal or shape in the sky? Can you draw it?
I hope to see many of your exciting creations on our twitter page.
Remember to stay in and stay safe!

Extra Year 1 Home Learning - 31.03.20
Dear Parent / CarerThis week, we thought that you might find it helpful to have some extra key questions to guide learning and develop your child’s knowledge of the topics covered this term. These questions are also designed to help motivate and inspire children. Please continue to use check the twitter page and school website for new ideas. The core English book for Year 1, on Curriculum Visions, is excellent for comprehension activities.
Hi Badgers, Foxes and Hedgehogs!
We are all missing you! We have put together some questions to help you with your learning. Enjoy and remember you can look in books and on websites for the answers.
English:
- Write 3 sentences describing what you would like to do today. Can you use conjunctions, such as and, or but to add extra detail to your sentences?
- Make a story board of your favourite story book and colour in.
Maths:
- Can you draw 7 2D shapes? What are the properties of these 2D shapes (vertices, curved sides, straight sides)?
- Can you make 4 repeated patterns for someone to finish? - use shapes, objects or numbers.
- Think of a word problem for addition, subtraction, grouping and sharing. Now get someone in your family to answer it.
Science: - What materials could you use to make a pair of glasses? Why?
History:
- Why was Florence Nightingale famous? Make a poster of Florence Nightingale, detailing her life and her achievements.
- Where did she travel to? Can you find it on a map?
Art:
- Can you paint a portrait of yourself?
Design and Technology:
- Can you design your own costumes for Victorian holidaymakers to wear at the seaside?
PSHE- Healthy Lifestyles:

We would love to see some of you completing these activities, along with the daily twitter challenges: head to the twitter page!
